The Flavour
Like most good band origin stories it all began in a bar. A drummer sees something in a solo artist that piques his interest and magically – it all comes together. With Franti and Sublime hardwired into their brains, the group that would become The Flavour took to the studio to record their first single, Live Love Listen Learn. Sunny, fresh and infectious, the song is a rarity in a local music scene filled with dour indie naval-gazers.

This uniquely Australian take on reggae and funk wasn’t planned. It’s simply what occurred when The Flavour started jamming. Perhaps it’s got something to do with their surroundings. The sun worship, undulating waves and of course, the hard bodies and bruising parties are as much inspirations on The Flavour’s repertoire as the tunes on their playlists.

Driven by Josh Fergus’s breezy vocals, the band - Mike Dotch on Wurlitzer keyboard, Jules Tagg on Rhodes keyboard, Shannon Nunn on electric guitar, Glenn Phipps on bass and Jimmy Mellowes on drums - thrives on stage, swapping instruments and having the time of their lives offering up a distinct and soulful take on the kind of music their heroes make.

Beer in hand, sun is shining and the band is The Flavour.
